Today we had the medal race of the world cup in Palma de Mallorca. In the medal race the top 10 teams are racing in a very short course close to the shore, where double points are given. To win we had to finish two boats in front of the Italians and ahead of the Swiss. The German team was also a very big threat. We took a good start in the light sea breeze and had quite a lot of space to use our good speed. On the first upwind we went more to the right and got some more pressure. We rounded the top mark in 1st place, but during the downwind and next upwind we fell down to 3rd place as the wind pattern was getting more and more difficult. At this time the Germans were leading and could win the whole regatta, but at the final super stressful downwind we passed them and finished 2nd just behind the Norweigians who got some good pressure from the other corner. The Italians and Swiss finished behind us and we won the GOLD!
